Harmonizing Decisions

I’ve had a lot of clients and friends ask how my photography business has been and why I haven’t had that many posts. I realized I owe it to them and future clients who might question, why it seems I seldom post.  First, for those who do not know, I do have a full time job. Photography is my weekend, my side, to pursue my love for photography. A few years into Dear Darling, my work flowed in rapidly and I was heavily having wedding weekend back to back. I like editing my own work, which meant I spent any spare time, weeknights and off weekends, editing. Overtime, I found myself missing out on life and the little things I enjoyed that allowed me to rejuvenate and freshen my perspective on the visions I saw. Plus, I just genuinely missed hiking, spending time with the baby (baby Yuki – dog), beaching, and all the simple things life offers us. Although tremendously grateful and overwhelmed by the support and clients, I realized a few years into it, I needed to balance out my work to ensure I wasn’t burning my self out.

So in the last year, I was selective in accepting specific photographic gigs that ensured I gave myself a balanced lifestyle. And you know what? I love it. So with that, I gave myself a gift to Dominican Republic. It has been years since I traveled anywhere internationally. I realized waiting around for the right time was never going to happen unless I just made it happen. So I did. *p.s. traveling without another photog is hard to get yourself in front of one!
